| How can the new charges save me money? |
Currently, posting a first class letter of any size weighing up to 100g will cost 49p.
After the 21st August posting the same letter in a A4 Size / C4 envelope will be marginally cheaper at 44p.
However, if the same item can is posted in a A5 Size / C5envelope it will only cost 32p which is a significant saving of nearly 37%! You can also make savings onheavier items. To post a first class letter or parcel weighing 500g will currently cost £1.90; under the new pricing structure a packet weighing 500g will cost only £1.70. If the item is compact enough to be classed as a large letter, the postage will be only 75p. Less than half the current price! This is great news if you are mailing out catalogues which can fit in a C4 envelope.

| How can I avoid losing money? |
The main aim of the new postal charging system is to encourage people to use smaller envelopes where possible,as a result posting very light items in large envelopes will be more expensive after August 21st. For example under the old charging system posting a 1st class letter weighing under 60g in a C4 envelope would cost 32p after August 21st to post the same letter will cost 44p. The best way to avoid paying more for your postage is to fold letters into smaller envelopes. Folding A4 documents in half will allow them to fit into a C5 envelope which, as it is classed as a small letter will only cost 32p in postage.
