| What does LCD mean? |
| LCD is short for liquid crystal display. This refers to the grey green type of screen commonly found on calculators where the digits displayed appear darker than the background screen. A layer of Liquid crystal solution is enclosed between two sheets of polarizing material. An electric current passed through the liquid causes the crystals to align so that light cannot pass through them.
