A4 paper

A4 Paper is the most commonly used paper size for general office use. This is what you will need for letters, invoices, most reports and general use.

A3 Paper is double the size of A4 paper so great for when you need to print out a graph or table that needs more space to be fully interpreted.

A5 Paper is half the size of A4 paper and is great for when you need to insert your printing into a mailing going out in C5 size envelopes. This can save on mailing costs and also time spent folding A4 paper.

printer paper compatibility

Most printer paper is compatible for all machines but there are some that are not, we have categorised our printer paper into 4 different machine types so that you can confirm that the paper that you buy is usable in your machine.
Inkjet printer paper
Inkjet printer paper is ideally suited to inkjet printers, this includes everyday black and white printing to more comprehensive internal reports, manuals & presentations. There are 3 main types of inkjet printer technologies; thermal, piezoelectric, and continuous all work on the same principal of spraying variably-sized droplets of liquid (ink) onto your paper. Inkjet printers are the cheapest and most common type of printers and are now found in most homes.

Laser printer paper
Laser printer paper is best suited to laser printers. The process of how a laser printer works is as follows; a laser beam projects an image of the page to be printed onto a rotating drum with selenium that is electrically charged. Photoconductivity removes charge from the areas exposed to light. Dry ink (toner) particles are then electrostatically picked up by the drum's charged areas. Following this the drum prints the image onto the paper by direct contact and heat, which fuses the ink to the paper. Therefore the more susceptible the paper is to the toner the higher quality your printing will be. Also, if you use a higher quality paper then the life of your laser printer can be increased. All of the paper that we sell will not reduce the life of your laser printer.Laser printers are more suitable to the business customer as they are for high volume use.

photocopier paper
Photocopier paper is ideally used in colour photocopier machines, it can also be used with other printers too but may not be as efficient as if you buy multi-use paper.

Multifunction printer paper
Multifunction printer paper is fine for use in any type of machine, including fax machines. About 50% of our paper is non-specialist paper and therefore fine in multifunction printers as well as the other types of printers listed above. Multi-use paper is often the most cost effective paper to buy.

I would like to know about glossy papers suitable for use in colour Laser printers - light weight (for flyers) or heavier (for photos)
Margaret Hobbs - 04 November 2010
Hi Margaret,

Please take a look at our Photo Paper Buyers Guide here:

http://www.euroffice.co.uk/guide/47l/Paper-Products/Paper/Photo-Paper/

It also depends on the type of finish you would like? For photographic, it's best to go for a glossy finish. On the page link above, you can split the products on the right hand navigation by gloss, semi-gloss or matt. For a simple leaflet, I would go for a 140gsm photo paper product code 250093. For a heavier photo option I would go for a 200gsm professional HP Photo Paper product code 251056.

Comments customers have added

HP, Canon & Xerox do not make paper. They just get the paper manufacturer to produce it their branded packaging. The same papers are found in other branded packaging so there's nothing unique about them.

Printer paper & the environment

When purchasing paper you need to be aware of the environmental credentials of the product that you are buying.

The main method of determining this is the percentage of recycled content of the paper
 - There are 4 levels here;
  • 100% recycled - made from recycled paper
  • Up to 50% recycled
  • Over 50% recycled
  • Enviro benefit - the product has a recognised environmental accreditation

Environmentally friendly product
On the Euroffice site you will see the above logo on any of the paper products that meet any of the above four standards of recycled content and in the product description you will be able to see the specific detail on the actual level of recycled content for each product.

In our Greener office section you will be able to see details of our green printer paper products.

We need brightness data for your paper lines. As well, it would be helpful to know the basis for the claimed performance standards.
Peter Findlay - 30 December 2009
Hi Peter
The Euroffice paper is of ISO-UV 95 standard of brightness. The paper also has a Bendtsen measure of 220 for it's smoothness, a CIE level of 149 for it's whiteness, a 4% moisture level and an opacity of 92%, There are also a number of environmental credentials against this printer paper; the wood is procured under ISO 14001 - meaning from sustainable forests that are Forestry Standards Commission accredited, and is also produced using only 105 KWh of energy for each tonne of finished product. I hope that this info is what you were looking for, let us know if it isn't and we will add to it.
