Buyers Guides

Which tape should I buy?

We supply a huge range of tapes so this summary here should give you a bit of background information on each type of tape to enable you to choose the best one/s to buy.

Anti tamper tapeAnti-Tamper Tape is used to keep confidential information/items safe. it comes with a powerful adhesive that if removed will shred paper and/or leave a coloured mark on the item that it is stuck to - this will deter any potential snoopers.

barrier tapeBarrier Tape or lane marking tape as it is sometimes called is used to mark areas of internal building on the floor to organise the space of large open areas. It is great for use on factory floors where you need to mark lanes for forklift trucks and also is great for use in school gyms for when you need to mark out fields of play for various games/sports.

Clear tapeClear Tape is great for those jobs where you do not wish to have a visible strip of tape showing. The tape is almost transparent so great for temporary fixes to cracked or ripped items.

Tape dispensersWe stock a range of Tape Dispensers from the type used for the desktop (pictured) to dispense sellotape to proper packing tape dispenser guns. The dispenser guns are great for mailrooms and also for storage of documents as well as those making a move to a new office space. Sellotape dispensers are great time savers that deal with the age old problem of finding the end of the role.

Double sided tapeDouble Sided Tape is excellent for attaching posters and planners to the wall as well as for light joinery and for mounting craft jobs.It is usually moisture resistant and often comes in a roll where there is no backing strip to remove.

Duck tapeDuct Tape (often called Duck tape) is an extra strong heavy duty tape, also fully waterproofed so that it can be used for specialist taping jobs such as temporary plumbing fixes and securing items together with a strong bond. Can be used on items that are frequently submerged in water. it gained it's name for it's common use on heating and air conditioning ducts. Good to have around any home or office for those random unwanted emergencies.

Gridding tapeGridding Tape is fairly similar to barrier tape in purpose but it is much finer in it's width. it comes in 1cm or 1.5cm wide tapes and is used for marking out grids for office wall planners. This is useful when you have a large project on that has dependencies across a number of staff members - you can make the plan visible for all so that everyone is clear on their responsibilities and deadlines.

Hook & loop tapeHook and Loop Tape is used for the temporary or longer term mounting of photos, samples and posters. The hooks can usually be used to mount directly with most exhibition display systems.

Masking tapeMasking Tape is perfect for protecting surfaces when you are painting, It is a strong impregnated crepe paper with a sticky side that when removed will take all of the adhesive off of the surface with it.

Packaging tapePackaging Tape is a polypropylene tape used for securing boxes and packages for mailing. it is important for every mail room to have some of this. it comes in a range of tape width's from about 30mm to about 50mm and also comes in a few different colours but is typically brown. This tape is not to be mistaken with Duct tape which is waterproof, packaging tape will not last for long in wet conditions and is best reserved for boxes and cartons.

Protective book covering tapeProtective Tape is a clear covering with an adhesive backing that can be applied to folder covers, books and presentations so make sure that they do not get scuffed or dirtied. The adhesive cover is easily removable for a short period of time to allow you to position it correctly.

reuseable tapeRe-useable Tape is a tape that can be applied and removed multiple times and still maintains it's adhesive qualities. It is generally clear (transparent) and does not ghost when photocopied. This is good for applying to pieces of paper that will constantly need to be updated.

Repair tapeRepair Tape is a great product, mainly used for books , that can be used to reinforce the spines, or to repair and or protect the covers and edges of books. It is transparent so doesn't ruin the appearance of the book but will just mean that you can hold onto your favourite volumes for longer.

SellotapeSellotape - Although Sellotape is actually a branded name for sticky tape it has become the common term used to describe your average office sticky tape. Sellotape has a multitude of uses and is one of the staples of the home and the office that we could just just not live without. We stock sticky tape from a few dirrent brands, including of course, Sellotape as well as 5 Star and Scotch.

Strips tapeStrips Tape is the name given to tape that comes in small strips that can be cut up into small square or rectangular pieces to attach posters, panels and graphics. It is clean & strong as well as simple to apply and remove -  an innovative stretch release technology leaves no surface damage! They can also be used as replacement strips for Small, Mini, Micro & Utensil Hooks and Medium Cord Clips.

Blu tackTack Tape - better known as blu-tack is ideal for the temporary pinning up of posters, planners & charts. This great little invention is also perfect for use as a mini stress ball. it can also be used to help fix calculators and phones to desks. Blutack was invented in 1971, in the UK by Austin Carpenter, whilst working for Bostik. It was inspired by his wife wanting an easily removable adhesive for posters that led him to the concept.
