Electric Staplers are Ideal for high volume stapling, electric staplers allow large quantities of material to be stapled quickly and with minimum effort. Built with automated stapling mechanisms, electric staplers operate without the need to apply force manually to the stapler and can automatically staple materials when they are placed in them. They vary in quality from the basic electric staplers to ones with heavy duty stapling capacity of up to 100 sheets at a time and also some electric staplers have the ability to staple in multiple ways - side, corner and saddle stapling.

vertical staplersVertical staplers are a clever and practical invention. Many people staple paper by holding it in one hand and then stapling with the other, rather than stapling flat on a table. Vertical staplers allow you to grip the staplers as a handle and to punch the staples in whilst holding the paper up - great for those fresh of the printer stapling jobs! When not in use they stand up on end so they can be easily grabbed, ready to use. Ideal for busy office environments with an eye for originality.

Long arm staplersLong Arm Staplers also known as long reach staplers are designed with large throat depths allowing documents to be stapled further from the edge than is possible with conventional desk top staplers. Long arm staplers have the ability to staple in up to 32cm or more. Ideal for creating booklets and project folders long arm staplers are great for schools and colleges as well as offices which regularly produce printed information in booklet format.

Heavy duty staplersHeavy Duty Staplers are hard wearing and robust, they are purpose built for high usage environments where large quantities of paper need to be stapled together. Heavy duty staplers have a stapling capacity of between 100 and 250 sheets of 80gsm paper. These industrial staplers are manufactured with tough metal construction, heavy duty staplers feature extra long lever arms enabling the user to apply maximum force for stapling thicker documents.

Stapling pliersStapling pliers are ideal for moderate to heavy duty continuous usage. Featuring hand held operating mechanisms; stapling pliers give a more secure fastening action and are ideal for securing padded envelopes and packages. An indispensable item for the post room.

Staple gunsStaple guns or tackers are hand held devices designed for tacking fabric, posters and canvas to base boards and display board. Staple guns feature a spring loaded mechanism to provide the necessary force to drive staples into board with a single hand operation. Ideal for creating displays, staple guns or tackers are useful products for the classroom and exhibition events.

3/4 strip staplersThree quarter strip staplers are the in between of the half strip staplers and full strip staplers. The name comes from the fact that you can fit three quarters of a strip of staples into the mechanism at a time. These staplers are for standard office use.

Is there a heavy duty stapler between the LongArm and the shorter type? i.e. with a throat of about 90mm. We just broke a Rexel Aquarius rather quickly. (-We're stapling poly bags to display cards, so need that 90mm)

Frequently asked questions

How many types of Staplers are there?

StaplersFull Strip staplers and half strip staplers are the most popular around the office. Half strip is designed for users with low usage where as the full strip version is designed for frequent users and holds twice as many staples as the half strip. Both half strip and full strip staplers are available in plastic for low usage and metal for a more robust stapling machine.

How many models of Staplers are there?
Lots! There is a wide assortment of specification and colours to choose from. The most popular staplers are hand held and desk top. There is also a range of staplers available for special requirements. Refer to our section on types of staplers to get a full run through of these types.

From the vast range of Staplers how do I know which one suits my needs?
Simply identify what you will be using the stapling machine for. If it is purely to staple small amounts of paper together then choose from our range of half strip desk top models. However if your stapling machine is in constant use then select a full strip metal stapler which will last longer. You should also refer to our section on types of stapler so that if you have specific requirements you will easily be able to identify the best type of stapler for you.

Is there a Stapler that I can stand on my desk?
vertical staplers

Yes, stand up or vertical staplers are available in both half strip and full strip. Also available is the Maxi Half strip stapler that holds up to 50% more staples than the traditional half strip stapler. Most ranges have a cushioned finger grip for comfortable stapling.

Is there a stapler suitable for use with bulky packaging?
Stapling pliersWhat you need is a pair of stapling pliers We feature a number of Pliers designed to cater for a wide range of applications. If you staple large amounts of padded bags, cartons and large reports then a pair of pliers is probably the best option for you. It is comfortable to use in the hand and the stapling action is designed to give a much firmer fixing.

I enjoy DIY what Stapler should I use?

I need a high volume stapler which one should I choose?
heavy duty staplerWe feature a wide range of Heavy Duty stapling machines both manual and electric.
The electric range is suitable for stapling large volumes fast. With a wide range available from the fun electrics up to semi-industrial professional machines. Our electric stapling machine range can staple between 2 to 240 sheets at one time.

Many of the manual stapling machines feature contour handles for a comfortable grip, with rubber feet for stability whilst in use. Manufactured from tough steel or metal and staples up to 240 sheets at one time (depending on model).

What do the numbers on the staple box mean?
The staple number indicated on the packaging does cause some confusion. Here are some tips to help you select the correct staple for your machine.
1. The first digits 24, 26, 23 etc indicate the gauge of wire used in manufacturing the staple. The smaller the number the heavier the gauge.
2. The second digit indicates the depth of the leg in mm.
3. So a 26/6 staple means the gauge wire is 26 with a 6mm leg.

It is important to use the correct leg length. If the staple leg is too short the staples will not bind the papers together or if the leg is too long the staple will have too much fold over.

What size of Staple should I use?

The size of staples you need depends on a number of things. Most desk top and hand held staplers use a standard 26/6 staple. However if you are stapling more than 20 sheets at one time then you are not using the correct staple.
All of the staplers featured in our range show details of the number of sheets the stapler is capable of stapling at any one time along with the size of staple suited for the stapler.

Is there a lightweight Stapler I can use traveling?
mini staplersYes, choose from our stylish range of mini staplers designed for students and business people on the move, small enough to fit in a briefcase or satchel/schoolbag.

My Stapler regularly jams what should I do?
Most stapler faults are caused by using the wrong staple in your machine. Another explanation is that you are stapling too many sheets at one time than your stapling machine is designed for.

How do I remove staples?
Many of us improvise when removing staples, using scissors, screwdrivers and even finger nails ouch!
We offer a range of simple and easy to use staple removers from the classic pinch type to a heavy duty robust metal staple remover.

Choosing The right Staples
It is important to use the correct sized staples for your stapler, as loading a stapler with the incorrect sized staples can lead to jamming and malfunction of the mechanism.
Staple sizes are usually expressed as two numbers split by a slash, for example 26/6.The first number refers to the gauge of the wire and the second number is the length of the shank or teeth of the staples in millimeters.

Some staplers can accommodate staples with more than one shank or tooth length. You should choose the staple which is best for the quantity of sheets you wish to staple together. Longer toothed staples are designed for stapling large amounts of paper, shorter toothed staples are designed for stapling fewer sheets.

mr m lotarew - 06 January 2010
Hi Mr M Lotarew
I have just checked and it looks like we do not have any of the 4/14 size staples in at the moment. The closest staples that we have are 4/13 but we do not recommend using staples that are not exactly the correct size. All i can suggest is a Google search on 4/14 staples?
Sorry that we could not help on this occassion, I have asked our product manager to try to get some of these staples in as soon as they can.
Kind Regards
