Photo paper finish

Photo paper is a heavyweight paper of about 170gsm-300gsm and it comes in 4 types of finish, which finish you prefer depends on the task at hand - the different finishes generally have varying levels of shinyness and brightness;

Matt photo paper
Matt photo paper is great for images with a slightly less shiny finish - this could be used for flyers and/or brochures.

Semi gloss photo paper
Semi-gloss photo paper has a slightly reduced gloss finish so again, this kind of photo paper is good for flyers, posters and brochures.

High gloss photo paper
High gloss photo paper is excellent for high resolution, digital photos and can give brighter colours and a deeper black.

Glossy photo paper
Glossy photo paper has a shine to the paper that helps to project the colours of the image that you are printing, It doesn't print as brightly as high gloss photo paper but brighter than semi-gloss photo paper, glossy photo paper is perfect for printing photos and digital images.

All of these papers are fast drying, fade and smear-resistant.

Ref: Hewlett Packard [HP] Professional Laser Paper Gloss A4 Ref CG965A [150 Sheets]. Is this paper suitable for ink jet printers? I'm looking for a gloss/semi gloss thick paper to provide a "Quality looking Programme for a forthcoming stage show. I would prefer something thicker than the standard 80g/cm

Hi Trevor,

This paper (HP Professional Laser Paper Gloss A4 Ref CG965A [150 sheets])will work best with laser printers as per description. I would recommend one of the following photo papers that are designed to be used with inkjet printers and are of the higher paper thickness with a gloss finish that you are looking for:

Hewlett Professional Packard Brochure and Flyer Paper 180 A4 Ref C6818A [50 Sheets] - product code 532321

Canon GP-501 Photo Paper Glossy A4 Ref 0775B001 [100 Sheets] - product code 456433

5 Star Premier Photo Inkjet Paper Gloss 240gsm A4 White [50 Sheets] - product code 917472.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have any more questions about photo paper.

All the photo paper you have is for inkjet printers and is not compatible to laser printers. Do you have or can you get photo paper for an HP colour laser printer?
Tim Bristol - 02 February 2010
Hi Tim
We do actually stock HP photo paper for laser printers but agreed it is not too easy to find as there is not a specific filter for laser specific products, we will look to change this in the near future. In the meantime here is the link to the photo paper you require - http://www.euroffice.co.uk/i/kk42/HP-Photo-Laser-Paper-Glossy-220gsm-100x150mm-Ref-Q8843A-100-Sheets.

I'd like to know which photo paper can be printed on both sides. Can this be added as a filter?
I'm looking for a lightweight paper for a leaflet. No more than 140gsm.
Tess - 24 March 2010
Hi Tess
I can meet half of your requirements; We sell a double sided printing photo paper but the lowest GSM we have of this type of paper is 160gsm - the product, by Apli is a high quality paper and should be fine for the purpose of a leaflet. Please copy and enter this URL into the URL bar to find the photo paper - http://www.euroffice.co.uk/i/70f2/Apli-Laser-Paper-Glossy-Double-sided-160gsm-A4-Ref-11817-Pack-100

Is the Apli laser paper, Ref 11817, suitable for Epson ink jet printers, or is it only for laser printers? Regards JOhn.
John Bardram - 29 March 2010
Hi John

The Apli laser photo paper can also be used in inkjet printers.

Could you please give some information on suitable photo papers for use on inkjet printers that use pigment inks i.e canon pro 9500
derek wilkinson - 10 September 2010
Hi Derek,

Thanks for your query and for providing the information. I have looked at the manufacturer's website and they recommend their Premium Pro 300gsm paper (product code 899072). Stocks on this at the moment are low. I would like to recommend you this product which is a bargain; you get 50 sheets rather than 20, it is product code 917480; 5 Star Premier Photo Inkjet Paper Gloss 265gsm A4 White [50 Sheets]. Let me know if you have any more questions and hope this is helpful.
