With over 30 paper trimmers to choose from this guide will take you through the big players and help you narrow down your search. Trimmers and Guillotines are commonly used for the precise trimming of paper, photos, card and all types of printed matter.


With paper trimmers you can really shop by price; the more you spend the better quality longer lasting product you will get.

The main difference between a paper cutter or trimmer and a guillotine is that the guillotine is designed more like the execution device where a large blade is pulled down over the edge of a block - they can be used for cutting large blocks of paper or very thick card at once.



The paper trimmers that we sell are mainly of the rotary design where a circular blade sits on a sliding carriage that moves up and down a rail that it is attached to. As well as this type of paper cutter being incredibly safe (it is almost impossible to cut yourself) it is also capable of cutting more interesting patterns in the paper and also if you do not press on the blade too heavily you can score rather than cut the paper.

Scissors are available in a wide range of sizes from 55mm to a mammoth pair of  225mm scissors, Scissors are used for cutting paper materials and sometimes even sheet metal. The scissors that we sell are for office use and although some of them are pretty strong none are suitable for cutting metal.




They are now more often found as plastic handled scissors or stainless steel handled scissors 

but the most comfortable for use with cutting large amounts of paper are rubber handled scissors.




The pair of scissors that is best for you will depend upon the intended use/s; If you are just looking for a pair of scissors for occasional use in the home/office/school then

a pair of standard scissors will do you fine - they will cut through card and multiple sheets of paper at once.

If you have more heavy duty use in mind then it is worth investing in some stronger, sharper scissors. Suresafe scissors do a range of titanium scissors that use hardened stainless steel. These also have rubber handles so provide comfort when cutting through thick paper.

Merit scissors do a wide range of specialist scissors, in our range we have some tailors shears, some surgical steel scissors as well as a few more standard products.

Suresafe scissors we briefly mentioned above; they do a range of titanium scissors as well as some good quality standard scissors with rubber handles.

5 Star scissors cover the full range from the cheapest standard scissors up to the higher quality rubber handled scissors with much sharper and larger blades.

These 3 suppliers produce amongst the best available there is no need to look anywhere else for  a new pair of quality scissors. 

When we refer to cutters we are talking about small hand held cutters, similar in principal to the stanley knife but a little more developed. Cutters are great for use in opening tightly packaged envelopes and parcels. They often have roller blades and are simple to use.

Cutting Blades are replacement items for hand held cutters and trimmers/guillotines.

When buying blades you usually will need to buy the relevant blade for your particular brand of trimmer. On the product description page for the blade this should be clearly stated.

You will know that you need a new blade when you are having problems cutting through card and/or heavy paper.
