Recruitment is key to the success of all small businesses and getting it wrong can be costly. With this in mind I thought that it would be interesting to hear how other small businesses approach recruitment?
There are fewer new jobs on the market than there were three months ago, and this slowdown began before cutting the 600,000 jobs announced by the government.
It's time for the CBI to break the mould and maybe pick someone from small business to run the show, according to business leader Lord Jones. Director General Richard Lambert is stepping down early and Digby Jones, who had the job before Lambert, has told the press the CBI needs  to 'break the mould and appoint a woman, someone from an ethnic minority background or from the world of small businesses as a successor'.

Almost four weeks ago I wrote about American CEOs taking an online colour test, designed to tell people their personality type and the careers most suitable for them. Somehow the colours one chooses are supposed to give insight into who you are and your calling and the CEOs tended to pick the same colours.

If you think that CEOs are hard-nosed, self-assured people think again. Under that tough exterior, they're really all softies.
The snow earlier this month prompted heated discussions on staff loyalty and motivation, so I thought you'd be interested in a business that gives a bonus to trainee employees who want to quit. 
Somehow, I don't think that people are jetting off to Acapulco, but there's news that the UK's small businesses (SME's) have been spending more on travel recently, according to Visa.
