Thanks to hard-wearing cases and external keyboards, people are better placed to take their iPads on the road to clients and offices.
In an earlier post, we felt the iPad isn't yet able to replace the desktop PC or high-end laptop; it needs more storage, horsepower, connection options and so on. But, thanks to a proliferation in accessories, the tablet is becoming viable for hot desking and as an 'instant-on computer'.
To get the most from your iPad you'll need:A protective case that doubles as an iPad stand. What you want is a case that will hold the iPad at an (almost) 90-degree angle. There are some cases that will incline the iPad slightly when it's lying down on a table, but that's too shallow to be useful for work.
An external keyboard. I believe that any Bluetooth keyboard will work, but get one without a number pad to cut down on size. If you do get a wireless keyboard, remember to carry spare batteries. Other keyboards, such as the Apple iPad keyboard dock we sell, allow you to orient the tablet at a screen-like angle.
A spare charging cable or dock. The iPad can hold its charge for a long time, so it's easy to forget a spare charging cable. Whether you just want the cable or you want to carry around a proper dock, carry a spare.
And if you're worried about prying eyes: get a screen protector to stop people peeking at what you're working on.
