We have recently finished a project to enhance the ‘Past Purchases’ and ‘Saved Lists’ tool on our website. We decided that for people who return to our website regularly we needed to make repeat purchasing quicker and easier. This tool is found on the left hand navigation bar under the green 'tools' tab (visualised here).
This tool now includes one click re-ordering and the ability to navigate with ease through account purchasing history. When you enter the past purchases tool you will see a number of options; Primarily you will see your most recent orders which you can simply click into and select the products you would like to re-order.
You can alternatively search by order date or by the products that you have ordered. You do not need to know the exact order date or the exact product, for example, just search ‘paper’ to see all of the different paper products you have ever bought and select the one from the list that you wish to re-purchase.
There is also a separate function that allows you to search for ink through your saved printers list; this allows you to add a printer make and model number and to add a description (such as the name of a member of your staff) so that when they ask you to re-order ink for them you will instantly know which product to buy from your saved printers list.
Also, If the product that you previously bought has been discontinued the past purchases tool will suggest the next closest alternative or detail the replacement product from the same manufacturer.
It would be great to get some feedback from you on this updated tool to see if we have done a good/fair/poor job with it, and practical suggestions for further development are always welcome.
