get a quick summary of this week's small business news
Hello and welcome to the Euroffice SME weekly round up - here are your top stories;
There are calls by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) for the new coalition government to tackle the increasing cost of red tape to small and medium sized enterprises.
The BCC claims that the cost to businesses rose by £11 billion last year to over £88 billion.
It increased following the introduction of 40 additional regulations during 2009.
Director of the BCC David Frost says: "During this critical time for the economy, we need businesses to be driving recovery and creating jobs.
But the government must play its part by putting the brakes on the relentless flow of red tape."
Meanwhile, following the first Queen's Speech since the formation of the coalition government, the Federation of Small Businesses has welcomed moves to safeguard jobs and support the economy as well as to invest in high speed broadband.
The FSB has been asking for a simplification of the tax system for a period of time and wants the government to implement measures which are clear, specific and fully evaluated to ensure SMEs aren't unduly burdened.
And finally, IT and contractor groups have welcomed the coalition government's pledge to abolish IR35.
The unpopular tax rules were put in place to try and stop freelancers and contractors from effectively working as full time employees for a business without paying normal tax.
A spokesperson from the Professional Contactors Group (PCG) commented: "IR35 was badly drafted and created massive and unjustifiable problems for contractors,"
