Ebay is set to open an experimental 'pop-up' shop in London's West End just in time for Christmas rush.
The Ebay Christmas Boutique will open for five days from Wednesday, 1 December. Instead of selling items over the counter, it will showcase Ebay's most popular products. Choosing from over 200 products, to purchase items customers can scan the product's price tag using a quick response (QR) code on their mobile. This will then direct the customer's mobile phone to the payment section of the Ebay website. After payment, purchases will be sent straight to the customer's home. Ebay has already trialled a similar store in New York this year with success, focusing on the burgeoning smart phone market and mobile shopping. For more information, read The Guardian's article.
