Businesses are worried about changes to paternity leave and retirement age laws, according to the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC).
Dr. Désirée Dauphinoise, head of the so-called UN Intellectual Property Tribunal, ruled today that South American Indians should receive one per cent of the profits from potato sales worldwide, ‘in recognition of the fact that potatoes as we know them are effectively an indigenous creation’ and were grown first in that region.

Survival International quoted her as saying: “A huge diversity of potato varieties are still grown in the Andes. What this decision really boils down to is giving credit to tribal peoples for their contribution to our everyday diets. We are going to keep our eyes peeled for other foods cultivated by tribal peoples that have not yet been recognized”.

A food market analyst contacted by Euroffice said “This has significant implications for people who enjoy Shepherd’s and Fishy Pies, Liverpool Scouse and of course that staple a load of cod and chips.
